Cedar Rapids leaders to break ground on wastewater treatment system improvements Nov. 1

Utility leaders in Cedar Rapids will break ground on Friday, Nov. 1, for a project that will improve the city's wastewater treatment system.

Construction is expected to kick off after a nearly a decade of planning and preparations.

The Cedar Rapids Utilities Department will be joined by Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell and representatives from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the city's Cedar Rapids Water Pollution Control Plant.

Hesemann said the upgrades will help them ensure the ongoing protection of water resources across the region.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the Cedar Rapids Water Pollution Control Facility at 2 p.m. in the 7500 block of Bertram Road Southeast.
