Screen to unveil water

Sustainability is at the core of the Truepress PAC520P high-speed printing system

As part of its endeavor to become a leading digital printing-equipment supplier for flexible packaging, Screen Graphic Solutions (Screen GA) will showcase a prototype model of its new Truepress PAC520P high-speed, inkjet printing system at European trade fair FachPack 2022.

Screen GA is developing this digital press specifically for printing onto paper-based substrates, using water-based, food-compliant inks for sustainable flexible packaging applications.

The flexible packaging industry is under increasing pressure from consumer groups to reduce its environmental impact by creating more sustainable packaging structures. One rapidly growing trend is the reduction of plastic material used in packaging.

Many market-research studies have shown that consumers perceive paper-based packaging as a more environment-friendly and easy-to-recycle format for the products they buy. Brand owners, meanwhile, are demanding shorter turnaround times with a higher degree of product diversification (more SKUs). Packaging converters are not able to adapt their analogue printing equipment (flexo, gravure or offset) to handle the increase in variability in packaging designs and order frequency.

In response to these market trends, Screen GA is moving forward with product planning for its Truepress PAC 520P – a high-speed, water-based inkjet digital press for paper-based packaging substrates with a much lower environmental impact than conventional printing processes. This is due to a drastic reduction in energy and material waste.

The Truepress PAC 520P utilizes newly developed proprietary water-based pigment inks that comply with appropriate food-safety regulations. The system is expected to provide both outstanding print quality and safety while maintaining exceptional throughput.

At FachPack 2022, Screen will continue to promote the Truepress PAC 830F industrial water-based inkjet digital-printing press for flexible packaging plastic films (PET, BOPP). This press is in its final development stages with the first few units expected to hit the market next year. This innovative digital press is expected to launch amid much excitement and expectation in the flexible packaging market given its industrial production capabilities for short-run jobs and high print quality.

Screen GA is delighted to exhibit a preliminary prototype of the Truepress PAC 520P together with the latest digitally printed flexible packaging pouches at the stand of our strategic collaborator Clarus Films GmbH (Hall 4, Stand 364) at FachPack 2022, to be held in Nuremberg, Germany, from 27-29 September.

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India hasdemonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India's real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
